The Kids Adventure Games offers kids ages 6 through 14 to opportunity to experience the thrill of adventure racing. Kids learn teamwork skills, have fun and build confidence in a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience created just for them.  During the race, teams of two will work together to navigate a variety of sports and problem-solving challenges.

The Kids Adventure Games emphasizes teamwork, problem solving and fun.  Race Director, Billy Mattison, explains, “The idea behind the race is to create an event that has all the fun things we dreamed about as kids.  With zip-lines, slip and slides, rope bridges, tubing, mud crawls and anything else we can dream up, the kids will have a true adventure and an incredible time.  We want the kids to cross the finish line pumped up with smiles on their faces and a feeling of accomplishment.”

Mattison continues, “The intent of the Kids Adventure Games is to challenge participants and teams physically and mentally while exploring and experiencing a mini-expedition.  At its core, the event challenges adventurers to navigate their way through wild terrain to find a pre-determined number of checkpoints in order to complete the journey.  A variety of disciplines are encountered during the race, with hiking/running, mountain biking and tubing being the most common.  The courses will be challenging, exciting, adventurous, fun and a great opportunity. Completing the journey and crossing the finish line is a great triumph and life experience.”

The Kids Adventure Games was founded in 2009 by Hélène and Billy Mattison with a single event in Vail, Colorado; produced in conjunction with the Vail Recreation District.  In 2013, after five successful summer events, NRG Marketing (NRG) joined forces with the Mattison’s to expand the concept to become a national series, hosted by some of the countries top resorts.
