OUR FOUNDERS

A dynamic duo, Billy and Hélène have been designing and directing adventure race courses for over 15 years through their company, Grand Traverse Adventures, Inc. 

Billy is an accomplished adventure racer who has participated in races across the world since 1996. These include Eco Challenge, Primal Quest and the Adventure Racing World Championships. Billy and Team Vail were the first American squad to win the Eco-Challenge, the granddaddy of multi-day, multi-sport adventure races. He brings his adventure racing experience as the Co-Founder and Course Director of the Kids Adventure Games™.

Hélène, was a Physical Education major, with a background in accounting, database management, and computer technology. Hélène started her adventure racing involvement as Team Vail’s manager in 1996’s Eco-Challenge. She worked on numerous adventure race team support crews across the globe in exotic and challenging locations and is well versed in race logistics. She and Billy became a race directing team in 2000 for the - what is now known as- the GoPro™ Mountain Games.
