· Two teams leave at a time, in 2-minute intervals.
· All kids need to be on site an hour before their start.
· There will be an athlete meeting approximately 30 minutes before each wave starts.
· There is a parent meeting at the same time as the athlete meeting
· There is generally 15 min break between each wave for the volunteers on course.
· Race starts at 10:00 am
· The kids need to both be at the checkpoint together before they can start the obstacle.
· Teams will get to do the obstacle in the order that they arrive. Keep them in order.
· If they do not want to complete the obstacle, they do not have to.
· If only one completes obstacle, lease use judgment in making it fair for the other teams.
· If kids ask for directions or help, you are allowed to guide them.
· Race will take place rain or shine, but if there is lightning or severe conditions, course director will decide regarding course hold.
· Teams “generally” start in bib order.
· If a team does not check in at checkpoint and you are several numbers past that number, please contact one checkpoint before yours to see if they have arrived at that obstacle.
· (Sometimes teams don’t start or start out of order; we will make every “effort” to relay this information to you).
· If they have not contacted Beth or Lisa to see if they are a DNS or started out of order.
Special Race Awards to Look For:
· Environmental Superstar –In this race it constitutes picking up trash while out on the course, therefore, the team that picks up and turns in the most trash generally wins.
· Sportsmanship – This would be an athlete or team that shows respect for one’s opponent and teammate, helps someone on the course who needs help, etc.
· Spirit – This would be a team that has style and attitude that has a positive influence on those around them. They are dressed up as a team, upbeat, enthusiastic and show good camaraderie and energy.
PLEASE make a point of jotting down a note on your volunteer sheets i.e.: bib number during the race and be ready to let us know why they deserve special recognition.
Emergency Procedure:
· Do not administer any significant First Aid yourselves (inhalers, Epi pens etc.). A band aid is OK.
· If you have an emergency, please radio onsite event Medical
· Be aware of who can hear you speak in the radio. We try to not alarm bystanders
· If it is extremely serious call KAG staff immediately
· If it is something you need to let us know about, please call or text, Helene (970) 401-3804 or Lisa (970) 390-4481.
Awards:
There will be an awards ceremony approximately 30 minutes after FINAL finishers.
Clean up:
Once the third wave has come through your station you can tear down any of the basics at your Checkpoint that don’t need the crew’s attention; this would be very helpful.
Please turn clipboards with sheets and radios in at the Finish Line timing tent!
Thanks for your help as you are an integral part of the race.
